This seminar will explore how sustainable fashion design entrepreneurs are developing post-growth business models for the fashion industry. These alternative visions focus on how resources are used and how clothing is created when the focus is people and earth versus profit maximization. The event will also showcase qualitative studies around UK sustainable fashion businesses focused on sustainability, longevity, and circularity. Prof. Dilys Williams and Prof. Sandy Black will host a conversation with author, researcher, director and professor of fashion design and merchandising at Kent State University, Dr. Louis Valentine. The conversation will focus on the insights gleaned from the Fostering Sustainable Practice project, which was led by the Centre for Sustainable Fashion. Creative practices within fashion design-led micro and small businesses to create a more sustainable future will also be explored in this conversation.
